    • March Madness Reading Challenge - As the NCAA Basketball Tournament approaches, we would like to continue our tradition of celebrating not only the tournament, but the fact that March is READING MONTH! We do this by encouraging all students to participate in the March Madness Reading Challenge. To be part of this exciting event, all you have to do is read at home between 2/29/16 and 3/13/16! Once you reach 100 pages read, fill out a mini-basketball certificate, have a parent sign off, and bring it in to Mrs. Marks. For every 100 pages you read, and thus for each mini-basketball you get signed and turn in, you will get one "draw" from the March Madness pool of teams. As the NCAA Basketball Tournament unfolds, we will track the progress of each team until four top winners make it to the final four. The four students who were lucky enough to draw these winning teams will receive a special prize from Mrs. Marks to congratulate them. This means that the more you read, the better your chances of winning! Each student will start with 3 mini-basketballs. Once these three are turned in, each student may choose to complete 2 additional bonus-basketballs for 2 additional "draws," with the maximum number of draws being 5 per student for 500 pages read. Keep in mind, there will be separate brackets for the 5th graders and the 6th graders to keep things interesting. Again, you can win with even one basketball completed, so get reading!! :)
